Vince's Cheesesteaks Allentown ribbon cuting

A triumphant downtown return for Vince’s Cheesesteaks, a Lehigh Valley tradition since 1957

Vince's Cheesesteaks of AllentownApril 12, 2016 / Vince’s Cheesesteaks of Allentown, an award-winning restaurant brand, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony yesterday for its new location at 806 W. Hamilton St. in Downtown Allentown. The opening marks the return of Vince’s signature cheesesteaks to the city where they were first served nearly 60 years ago. Owners Vince Cocca, Jr. and Chris Cocca, the son and grandson of founder Vince Cocca, Sr., will operate the new restaurant.

From The Morning Call:

“With Allentown on the rise again and redeveloping again in a positive way, we’re really excited to come back to our roots just a few blocks from where we started and to be part of the new energy, the new vibe that’s happening downtown,” Chris Cocca said.

Vince’s offers several varieties of cheesesteaks, including classic, buffalo chicken and sliders, along with hamburgers, hot wings, pierogies and fries. A Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture “PA Preferred” business, Vince’s Cheesesteaks uses locally sourced produce.

The restaurant is open seven days a week, from 11:00am – 9:00pm (later on PPL Arena event nights).  For more information, call 610-841-7999, or visit their website.

Through the years, Vince’s Cheesesteaks has been a staple in the Lehigh Valley dining scene. Various locations have included a drive-in restaurant on Walbert Ave. in South Whitehall, a double drive-through stand at 15th and Allen in Allentown, a restaurant on Mill Creek Rd. in Trexlertown and an extremely popular Vince’s Cheesesteaks mobile concession business, which has been in operation for 40 years and can be found at fairs, festivals and catered events throughout the state. They’ve recently moved into the food truck space as well, combining traditional techniques with emerging tastes and market demands.

“We’ve always wanted Allentown to be successful, and we want to play a role in that – our roots are here,” says Chris Cocca. “We’re committed to helping the neighborhood prosper, too. That means not only offering family favorites at an affordable price point, but also hiring people from the neighborhood and teaching them about our business. We’re committed to Allentown’s success across the board.”
