Ruby’s Floral Factory, downtown Bethlehem’s premier full-service florist, now has a second store open for business in Downtown Allentown at The Shops at City Center. Located next door to Starbucks on the first floor of Two City Center, Ruby’s designs fresh and silk flower arrangements for individuals, events and corporate clients, including PPL Center. Ruby’s specializes in high-end unique flowers, including a broad base of tropical flowers, and buys much of its supply directly from local growers. Its goal in Allentown is to create a sleek, modern, urban store similar to the flower shops of New York City.
“We’ve studied a lot of shops in New York in order to make our second location an evolution of what we offer now. Our customers will enjoy a big-city experience with the old-fashioned Southern hospitality we’re known for,” says Keith Royal, Ruby’s founder, lead designer and owner. Originally from Georgia, Royal is all about providing the ultimate experience for customers. He sponsors regular professional development for his employees and has a lead designer available at all times to create custom arrangements on the spot. Ruby’s, which does extensive event work in the Lehigh Valley, New York City and Philadelphia, aims to create for all of its customers “anything that’s you and unique.”
Named after Royal’s late grandmother, Ruby’s is designed like a true cosmopolitan open-market florist, where customers can be part of the flower-choosing process. This allows for customers to create a more personal gift or event experience, and it allows for the designers to be more spontaneous, creative and thoughtful as well.
This on-the-spot creativity and customer care has already landed the Allentown shop its first wedding gig. “A bride-to-be happened to walk by, stopped in to take a peek at our new shop and decided she wanted Ruby’s for her wedding. Just like that,” says Royal. “It was really special.”
