August 25, 2016 / Rite Aid held a grand opening and ribbon cutting for its new store on the corner of Seventh and Linden streets in Downtown Allentown today. The location features the latest pharmacy services and an enhanced selection of wellness products. Located on the street level of STRATA Flats at Four City Center at 27 North Seventh Street, the new Rite Aid was welcomed warmly by city residents, shoppers, office workers, retailers and officials.
The 12,000-square-foot store features Rite Aid’s highly popular Wellness Store format, which is part of the company’s continued commitment to providing services, products and resources to help its customers and their families live healthy lives. Wellness Stores feature pharmacists with special training in diabetes care, medication management and the ability to immunize against around a dozen diseases, including flu, pneumonia, shingles and whooping cough.
Also available to customers as a resource is a Wellness Ambassador, which serves as a bridge between the front end of the store and the pharmacy. Wellness Ambassadors work closely with Rite Aid pharmacists to provide customers with access to information on over-the-counter medications, vitamins and supplements and Rite Aid programs and services.
There are hundreds of health and wellness products available to shoppers in the new Rite Aid, including: organic and/or gluten-free foods, an expanded caregiver section, all-natural personal care and home care products, prescription delivery service, expanded beauty department including a nail bar, extensive line of GNC products, fitness and workout equipment and a bigger wellness magazine and book section. The store also features a private pharmacist consultation room for advanced clinical services.
Store hours are 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekends. The pharmacy will open at 8 a.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. Saturday and Sundays, and close at varying times during the week.
Jim Harbaugh, City Center’s vice president, director of sales, told LVB.com that a full-service pharmacy was an integral part of the downtown’s revitalization plans. “We targeted a downtown full-service pharmacy since the beginning,” Harbaugh said. “It was a critical key to the sustainability of the downtown.” The location, he adds, is one that serves the entire downtown community, where there hasn’t been a full-service pharmacy in more than four years.
