Center Ice Allentown

Center Ice is trying to be the apple of my eye…and it’s working!

October 28, 2016  /  Life is complicated. Sometimes you have to be a pillar of self-control and discipline. But other times, you just have to give in to your inner ice cream lover.

What? It’s Friday afternoon. What kind of personal struggle did you think I was going to have?

In addition to it being on the verge of Halloween weekend and the night before the epic Downtown Allentown Monster Crawl, it is also the time for some new fall dessert offerings at my favorite local ice cream parlor and sweet shop, Center Ice. It’s going to be apple-icious around here this fall, and I love it!

“We’ve got Hershey’s Deep Dish Apple Pie ice cream starting this week, which means we’ve also got some cool apple creations,” Aaron Heintzelman, Center Ice’s general manager told me. “The biggest new item is the Caramel Apple Pie Cider Milkshake. It’s made with three scoops of apple pie ice cream infused with apple cider, milk and hot caramel sauce. We serve it with a straw and a spoon…knife and fork optional. If you ask for the ‘cool kids cup,’ I’ll serve it to you in the mug (dine-in option only) for just $4.99.”

You had me at Caramel Apple, Aaron. You had me at Caramel Apple.

Mention this post, and “Ice Cream” Aaron will give you 99 cents off on the spot or a coupon for buy-one-get-one-half-off on your next trip back to Center Ice. Beyond apple delights, they also have a Whipped Pumpkin Pecan Milkshake, a Mint Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Quake (made with ice cream infused with a strong-brewed and chilled coffee), a Cherry Vanilla Ice Flake (vanilla ice cream infused with crushed cherry topping and sprite), and a great selection ice cream by the scoop. They also serve coffee, fresh-popped popcorn and roasted peanuts for those looking for something less sweet.

I love getting the inside scoop on neighborhood eateries, especially if that scoop involves ice cream. This is waiting for me (and you all too!), just around the corner from STRATA Flats. Check back on this blog soon for more great Downtown dining and shopping details.
